Hurricane waiver cover from VillaDirect
We understand that guests can sometimes be concerned about the prospect of a hurricane ruining a vacation to Florida. We really don't want to worry you any further. VillaDirect wants you to be confident that you can book your Disney vacation home from us, and know that you will still get the vacation you paid for, whatever the weather throws at us.
VillaDirect has created the Hurricane Waiver to protect your booking of our rented accommodation...and it is FREE OF CHARGE and is AUTOMATICALLY APPLIED TO YOUR BOOKING.
It really is quite simple - if a hurricane warning* is issued for the county in which you are staying by the National Hurricane Center (NHC) either within 48 hours prior to your arrival, or during your stay, you can postpone your reservation by up to 12 months (see detailed terms below).
In Florida, residents accept hurricanes as seasonal nuisance. Recently we see that every year the weather men predict high numbers, and sometimes they are right - but most times they over-estimate the numbers and severity. Hurricanes are extreme forces of nature, and VillaDirect has specific policies in place to warn and protect its guests, the properties we manage, and our employees and offices. VillaDirect has over 10 years operational experience of providing continued support through hurricane emergencies. Your vacation is as safe as it can be.
Specific Terms
VillaDirect hurricane waiver will apply to the following reservations:
- Book any vacation home, town home or condominium through VillaDirect or on villadirect.com.
- Your dates of stay must be between June 01st and November 20th (the hurricane "season").
- Your reservation must be paid in full before the hurricane warning is issued.
- The hurricane waiver only provides cover for the remaining, unused potion of your vacation. If a hurricane warning is issued by the NHC during your stay, only the remaining days will be available to rebook to stay within the following 12 month period.
- If applied, you must re-book your reservation (or partial dates thereof) for arrival within the 12 months following the postponement.
VillaDirect hurricane waiver will apply under the following circumstances:
- The NHC must have issued a Hurricane Warning in the county where the vacation home you have rented is located. All of the vacation homes offered are in Lake, Orange, Osceola, or Polk counties. If the county has not had a hurricane warning issued, then the waiver will not apply.
- The warning must be issued within 48 hours prior to your arrival, and/or up to 48 hours before your departure for the waiver to be applied. This means that if the NHC issues a warning on the day before your departure, the hurricane waiver will not apply.
- If the NHC issues a "Hurricane Watch" - the waiver will not apply.
- You must call, email or fax the office of VillaDirect to confirm that you are requesting the waiver be applied, at which time the operator will confirm if it can be, based on information provided by the NHC.
- VillaDirect hurricane waiver will not apply to reservations for arrivals between November 21st and May 31st each year.
* A "Hurricane Warning" is a specific term and event issued by the National Hurricane Center (NHC). A Hurricane Warning is issued when (and defined by the NHC as)
"A warning that sustained winds 64 kt (74 mph or 119 km/hr) or higher associated with a hurricane are expected in a specified area in 24 hours or less. A hurricane warning can remain in effect when dangerously high water or a combination of dangerously high water and exceptionally high waves continue, even though winds may be less than hurricane force."
