Number 2 on the list of visitors "must do" events when coming to Orlando and the
Walt Disney World® Resort area is
SHOPPING!!! ... and this is THE PLACE to find shops.
With over 20 different Malls in the Orlando area, plus at least another 500 specialist shops - there is probably nothing that you could fail to find to suit your heart's desire. With our low sales tax and
BIG DISCOUNT outlet malls you'll be sure to catch a bargain on your trip!
So make sure that your credit and charge cards are "fully loaded", and that you make some time during your action-packed vacation schedule for at least
one day (who are you kidding?) to spend roaming around your favorite stores or picking up the bargains at the outlet malls.

Sales Tax ...
If you are visiting Florida from outside the USA, then please be aware that the price on the item tag excludes sales tax, which is added at the check-out. So when you take your items to the check-out - please don't be surprised when the total is higher than shown on the price tag.
Sales tax in Florida varies from county to county - but is usually somewhere between 5 and 7%.
Tipping ...
It's customary to tip restaurant staff for their service. Typically tips start at 10% and rise to 20% for exceptional service. Please don't be a "tight-wad"! Guests from some countries already have a "reputation" for holding back on tips - but your restaurant server makes most of their income from them!
Please also note that it is not customary to give tips to shop staff.
Shoes ...
Most of our guests would be surprised at how many times we get calls asking for advice on where to go to treat blisters and aching feet. Whether you're going to the theme parks or the shops - you will walk a l-o-n-g- way when you're here in Florida - and your feet will take a beating. Be sure to bring along some comfortable walking shoes that are "broken in" to survive!
Enough luggage? ...
You might like to think about buying that extra suitcase at the mall while you're shopping. So many guests have to rush to the nearest local luggage store on the day before departure simply because they've bought so much that the can't fit it all into their luggage!
We should also let you know that buying extra luggage at an outlet mall will save you at least 20% over buying it locally to your vacation home at one of the shops on the "strip".
Safety tips ...
When shopping at a mall in Orlando (as in any large city), be sure not to leave valuables on show in the car. Lock all valuables out of sight. If you're "shop hopping" - make sure that your purchases are locked away out of sight also. Finally, always take the time to park as close to the shop or mall as you can - for 2 reasons. The first is security - it's always safer to be closer to the shops than farther away. The second is the weather - when it rains in Florida - it comes fast and hard ... and even a perfect days shopping can easily be ruined if you get soaked half way across a huge car park!
