Disney World Vacation :: Take A Beach Day

Disney World Vacation :: Take A Beach Day

You do not have to stay at the parks on your Disney World vacation. It can be refreshing to get out and spend a day at the beach. Here are a couple tips to help you plan a fun day for the whole family.

Choose a Beach Location

Walt Disney World® is located in central Florida. Many people choose to visit the Atlantic Coast beaches. Cocoa Beach is only a 90-minute drive from the Walt Disney complex. Cocoa Beach has miles of pristine beaches. Their beaches offer free access and other amenities for patrons. The famous Ron Jon Surf Shop is nearby to meet all your surfing and swimming needs.

Ready to go to the beach, then let’s find the perfect vacation home.

Cocoa Beach is a popular spot and can get a little crowded. Daytona Beach and Melbourne Beach are other great choices for a day at the beach with your family.  View a complete list of Florida beaches.

Don’t Forget the Beach Essentials

Boogie Boarding at the BeachThe little ones want to get into the water and have fun. You should be prepared to bring all their toys to the beach. Boogie boards and water toys can add a little fun to your beach day. An umbrella can be useful especially in the warm Florida sun. The sand can be hot for little feet. You should always bring a beach towel or blanket for everyone to sit down.

Many beaches do not have snack stands to buy food. A small cooler can be filled with water or other beverages and a few food items. You might want to think about bringing a rolling cart to get all your stuff to the beach. Without a cart, it can be a hassle to get everyone and everything to your sandy spot.

Plan for the Unexpected at the Beach

Your beach day should be filled with plenty of fun. You want to make sure you don’t have any unexpected surprises. Parking can be a bit of a hassle. Most parking meters do take credit cards, but it is a good idea to bring quarters or cash. This can also be beneficial if you want to patronize a restaurant or shop. Some places still only accept cash as payment. A first aid kit is another essential item. You never know if an accident will occur on the beach.

These tips can help you get a little fun in the sun. A beach day will give you a break from your Disney World vacation. With a little planning, you can avoid any unexpected hassles on your getaway day.
