Today is the day! Friday, February 22, 2019 is the date for the first game of the Florida Grapefruit League spring training season. This is the day baseball fans everywhere have been waiting for since October 28, 2018 when the Boston Red Sox beat the Los Angeles Dodgers in game five of the World Series. On the schedule for 2019 Florida spring training’s opening day, the competition is between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Philadelphia Phillies.

Fifteen major league teams from both the National and the American Leagues have convened in Florida this spring, and Orlando is right in the middle of the action.

The teams not headquartered right in the Orlando area are within a one-to-two hour drive toward either Florida coast.

Some of the most popular teams in baseball hold their spring training in Florida. In fact, on both February 23 and March 15 the Boston Red Sox are scheduled to play the New York Yankees. Other teams training and competing in Florida for 2019 spring training include:
