The Hearts of Reality Weekend Summer Sidewalk Sale is a weekend event featuring some of TV’s biggest reality stars along with a sidewalk sale to benefit the Give Kids the World organization. The weekend begins with a ticketed party on Thursday night, followed by a sidewalk sale and autograph signings take place Friday and Saturday. Reality stars set to make an appearance this year include winners from Survivor, Big Brother, The Amazing Race and more!

 

 

 

 

 

Lakeridge Winery Free Things to do in Orlando in AugustLakeridge Winery “21st Annual Harvest Grape Stomp”—August 15-16

This event is technically free, although a $2 donation is suggested to benefit The Boys and Girls Club. Lakeridge Winery’s Annual Harvest Grape Stomp takes place every year right around grape harvest time and makes for the perfect family outing. You can listen to live music by local musicians the entire weekend and enjoy a variety of Lakeridge wine, beer and soft drinks, plus food available for purchase. And, seeing as how the event is put on by a winery, you can also go on complimentary Winery tours and tastings!

Rollerball Free Things to do in Orlando in AugustRollerball at Enzian’s Wednesday Night Pitcher Show—August 5

Enzian Theater’s Wednesday Night Pitcher Show is featuring the cult sci-fi classic Rollerball for free on August 5th! You can enjoy a beer or two and some munchies at their Eden Bar and as well as a free outdoor movie on the lawn at the Enzian. There’s also Jello shot movie trivia before the featured film! This month’s free movie, “Rollerball,” is an empty-headed sci-fi adventure, set in a 21st century where man has eliminated crime, pollution and other social ills. Because of this, a violent form of entertainment is sought by the masses—a deadly physical contact sport known as Rollerball!

500 Days of Summer Free Things to do in Orlando in August500 Days of Summer at Enzian’s Wednesday Night Pitcher Show—August 19

This August you’ll be able to catch two free flicks at the Enzian theater’s Wednesday Night Pitcher Show, the second of which will be the “anti-romantic” comedy 500 Days of Summer starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel. Set in Los Angeles, the comedy follows Tom (Gordon-Levitt) and Summer (Deschanel) through their tumultuous and often hilarious romance. Boy meets girl. Boy falls in love. Girl doesn’t. See what happens next in this post-modern love story!

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Free Things to do in Orlando in AugustPopcorn Flicks in the Park, featuring “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets”—Aug 13

The City of Winter Park and Enzian collaborate to produce the Popcorn Flicks cinema series in Winter Park.  It’s normally held on the second Thursday of each month and features classic films for the whole family. This month’s featured film will be “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,” Harry Potter’s second adventure in the award-winning, best-selling series by J.K. Rowling.

Whether you’re doing some early Christmas shopping for the hipster in your family or just need some retail therapy, it doesn’t get much more fun or funky than the Big Bang Bazaar. Who needs the mall when you have booths filled with everything from handmade fashion to robot sculptures, along with cult-film screenings, a photo booth and appearances from the Orlando Psycho City roller derby girls? Show up early: The first 100 attendees get a swag bag of vendor goodies.

Cinderella Free Things to Do in Orlando in AugustMovieola, featuring “Cinderella”—August 28

If you’re looking for something laid back to do with the family during your visit to Orlando, look no further than Lake Eola’s free outdoor movie series, Movieola! You can bring blankets, chairs, snacks and the whole family to catch a wide variety of kid-friendly movies. Food is available for purchase as well, leashed pets are welcome, and you can show up early to secure a great spot and enjoy pre-movie activities including croquet, corn hole, washers, music and more. On August 28, Movieola kicks off at 6 p.m., with the feature presentation, the new live-action “Cinderella” movie starting around sunset at p.m.

On the fourth Friday of each month, multiple venues in Sanfrod’s downtown historic distric host the Sanford Art Walk, which showcases local talent and gives you the opportunity to meet visiting artists. The event is free and runs from 6 to 9 p.m., and if you want to extend your Art Walk after dark, you can fisit the Little Fish Huge Pond for a lare night reception until 10 p.m. All the venues are within walking distance of one another and are open late so you can enjoy local art and refreshments!
